I really appreciated the warm welcome from Mrs Hetto, who was always attentive and offered me support and understanding for my situation.

I have been a refugee in Luxembourg since 2007. Once I obtained my nationality and my secondary school diploma, I decided to study psychology at the University of Liège. So I moved to Belgium into a student kot (studio). I wasn’t allowed to register my address there. I searched for a long time for where I could register my address, and a friend, who had her address with you, told me about Maison Eisenborn.
I contacted the service and was able to obtain an address quickly. It was the ideal solution because my parents remained in the refugee camps and later moved into a studio where I couldn’t register an address.

I really appreciated the warm welcome from Mrs Hetto, who was always attentive and offered me support and understanding for my situation. Every year I spent in Liège, I had to wait for the end of the third exam session in order to provide a certificate of enrolment for the following year. It was always on 15 September, and Mrs Hetto trusted me with that.

At the time, I never slept at Maison Eisenborn because I didn’t really need to. For the municipal elections this year, however, I needed to come to Bourglinster to vote. I don’t have a car and I live with my boyfriend in Aubange, so I asked Mrs Hetto if I could stay a few days at Maison Eisenborn. I immediately received a reply and was able to come to the house for the first time to sleep there. I thought I would be alone, that no one would be there on a Saturday evening, but when I arrived, I went down to the kitchen to see who was around. I met a group of volunteers who welcomed me warmly and immediately included me in the games they were playing.

I really loved the atmosphere that day, and since then I’ve wanted to return more often to see those friends again—people I greatly appreciated and who are incredibly rich in experience thanks to their diversity. We exchanged contact details and are planning to meet again soon.

It makes me so happy to have access to an address as a student living in a foreign country, because if I had not had this opportunity, I would not know how to maintain a stable address while finishing my studies.
